There are a number of ways to contribute to the ReservesDirect project. We are always looking for volunteers to join the effort to improve ReservesDirect and make it the best eReserves system available. You can contribute to any one of the following areas, based on your level of interest and the skills you are able to bring to the project.

The diagram to the right illustrates how the project works and how the different groups interrelate. You can also get a printable PDF version (https://www.reservesdirect.org/wiki/images/8/88/OSS_Project_Workflow.pdf) of the workflow chart.

Programming and Development

We are actively seeking partner institutions who can contribute developer talent to developing new features and enhancing existing features. The development community will also be given bugs to fix discovered by the QA group and can request design help from the Interface Design community.

Quality Assurance (QA) and Testing

The QA group is essential to the success of ReservesDirect. This group is called upon to run new features and enhancements through the ringer to discover any and all bugs, then deliver those bugs back to developers to be squashed. The more eyes that are on the software looking for blips and errors, the better it becomes. Anyone who uses the software is already a qualified tester.
